My new car doesn't have the vin in the dash, and would like to get it registered, insured, and plates for it? Think the cops will give me crap? Anyone know where there are supposed to be more vin numbers on the car? Thanks

I've seen alot of automobiles on tv that are street legal and are made from scratch or multiple car parts that are legal. I think you just have to have an inspection or fill out a form to insure that you have all lights and reflectors that meet DOT. Call the DMV they will know what you need. I am pretty sure there is only one vin.

You might do this before you add all your mods...
I just got off the phone with the DMV and they said... you have to fill out a form at the DMV in your county of residence for an Assigned Vin. They basically assign one to you. Then you have to have a Colorado State Patrol person do an inspection to insure it meets all state requirements. Return to the DMV with your inpsection pass information and you will get your new VIN and then your plates/registration.
Hope it all works out for ya, I still wanna come over and see that bad boy. I will help ya with all the requirments and such if you want and I still owe you some assistants in dismantaling/installing your car parts. Stuff just got too busy that day.

No Vin numbers on the dash?
So, someone stole the car, took it to a chopshop, they removed the windshield, and removed the rivets holding on the VIN plate....interesting.
If you get caught by the COPS and they decide to check the VIN...you get a oneway ticket to the back of the squadcar while they sort it out. ENJOY.
You should be able to find the VIN number on the inside of the door, and the engine block. I believe there are 2 or 3 more sites for the VIN, but those are only known by mechanics and the Law.
You better hope they all match.

An Emissions station can perform a VIN verification for $9.00. As long as the VIN on the title and the VIN found on the car's chassis match, there's nothing to stress.
