and my car does fine until I step softly on the brakes at 85 mph to slow down - the car and especially the steering wheel starts to vibrate like mad! Funny thing is I don't get this vibration when I am going 70. The problem is still there, but improved when I am actually in gear...

Any suggestions as to what is causing the vibration? Wheels out of balance? Brakes not alighned properly?

I am going to rotate the wheels this weekend to see if that makes a difference...

Hard on the brakes recently? It may be pad deposits

I had the same problem a while back. Turned out my rotors were warped. They only had 18k on them too
