So my driver side outter CV joint is blown, it just started to knock on me the other day. I've done the repair on an old Toyota Camry, but was wondering if there was anything to watch out for on the ol Audi?

I don't remember anything special. I just took the axle out, put it in a vise, and beat off the CV joint with a rubber mallet. It wouldn't hurt to have a Bentley or Chilton's manual although I didn't have one... I recall it was straight forward just like any other CV joint/axle setup.
It would be easier and maybe less expensive or about the same price to just replace the whole axle. That was the case on my wife's Honda Civic about 5 years ago... I just got a whole new Axle from Napa. But who knows, Audi part prices are weird.
Good luck.
