looking for rocky mountain audi participants, for

130 club - you get five passes to acquire 2 runs above 130 mph, ....
on a 1 mile course, from a standing start, on the salt, which has about half the grip of tarmac.
<b>"it only <b>sounds</b> easy"</b>
<i>a lot of 'badass' cars didn't make it</i>

a fully stock modern audi will not likely achieve the 130 club. you will need to be chipped, at least.
anyhow, all are welcome. there's lots of fun to be had, even if you don't run for the 130 club.

Default noob questions: entry free and do winter tires help?

That sounds like fun. Sounds like a Stg II B5 S4 would have a decent shot.

Didn't see a link at the bottom, but haven't had any coffee yet... so...

Default Re: noob questions: entry free and do winter tires help?

sorry, link is fixed.

entry fee is cheap.
$150 bucks total. <i>that's $40-membership, $75-entry, and $35-course prep fee</i>

your winter tires are not likely rated to adequate speed. see the tech forms at the link for specifics.

Default some pics from 2006

I may bring my motorcycle out this year. I have to take a look at the regs for the 150 club as I am a 130 club member from 2006 in the S4.

Default Pretty sure my M3s are V-rated and certainly H-rated

They only require H-rated or better for the 130 runs. If I get serious will check the forums out. Just thought performance oriented snows like the Wintersport M3s might help with traction.

Default So you're saying that if you have a car that can easily go 130mph it's hard to achieve this...

running on salt due to traction issues? What's it like at this speed (120-140mph) on the salt. Way squirrelly?

Default what i'm saying is, ...

what i'm saying is, getting a car to do 130 is easy.

getting it to do 130, from a standing start, in only one mile, even on tarmac ain't "easy" for a lot of cars.

standing start on the salt makes it more difficult, traction varies, around half the grip of tarmac.

doing these speeds on the salt is "rumbly".
i've done some four wheel drifts well above 100, and it's pretty predictable.

Default ahhh, tire speed rating requirements have been changed down this year, ...

a winter tread would give an advantage at the start line

Default try a, ...

sometime, on a flat level closed road, try a one mile run from a standing start, and see what speed you can get to.

wear your seatbelts tight, and wear a helmet.

on second thought, never do that, except on the salt, with safety crews present
