Got pulled over Sat. for "illegal" tint........
I didn't get a ticket but did get a written warning. Now when I got the car new at the dealership I said, "tint it". I always thought that it was pretty dark but never thought that it was too dark or at least as far as legal darkness is concerned. Anyways, after I explained to the officer that it came this way from the dealership he suggested that I go there and show them the "warning" I got and see what they could do for me. Do I have a case for making the dealership correct the tint level on their own penny? I never told em to give me illegal tint! Officer said I had 27% in the back windows which is fine if I had no tint on the front windows. But since I did have tint on the front windows the tint on the back windows has to be no more than 30%. I would rather have them even all around so maybe redone to 30%. What do yall think?

BS. 27% all around is the law - read for yourself
42-4-227. Windows unobstructed - certain materials prohibited - windshield
wiper requirements.
(1) (a) Except as provided in this paragraph (a), no person shall operate any
motor vehicle registered in Colorado on which any window, except the
windshield, is composed of, covered by, or treated with any material or
component which presents an opaque, nontransparent, or metallic or mirrored
appearance in such a way that it allows less than twenty-seven percent light
transmittance. The windshield shall allow seventy percent light transmittance.
The provisions of this paragraph (a) shall not apply to the windows to the rear
of the driver, including the rear window, on any motor vehicle; however, if
such windows allow less than twenty-seven percent light transmittance, then the
front side windows and the windshield on such vehicles shall allow seventy
percent light transmittance.

That's awesome info! I guess the cop needs to read up on this. Thanks a lot....
Do you know where I can get a copy of this particular law 42-4-227? I'd like to have it in my car in case I get pulled over again. Also he said that this will be in my profile if I was to ever get pulled over again. Guess I shouldn't worry about it though since I'm not actually driving around with illegal tint>

Cop gave me the same line of BS. Fortunately, I had read this law...
...just a week or two before getting pulled over and gave him all the details involved. I love putting cops in their place when they start trying to feed me some BS, especially with three friends in the car with me.

and Wait a minute! he Pulled you over for Illegal tint?
I could have sworn that illegal tint was a secondary offense to where they could only nail you on it if they pulled you over for something else.

He also noted the German plates which I did not get a ticket for so that is probably the reason....
I got pulled over. But I don't know which reason he actually pulled me over for. I know it wasn't speeding. I was doing 65 in a 65. He was in the slow lane going slower. So I assume he noticed in the rearview my German plates and then the tint thing followed.
