Default HID headlight questions and opinions

I have a 2001 A6 with halogens and I am wondering what all is needed to make them HID's. Now do I just buy a HID kit or do I buy HID lights. And if I were to buy new lights is there anything else that I need to do since my car currently only has halogens or is it a direct replacent. If there is anyone that can help that would be great and of course if anyone has any opinions on headlights or hid kits please say so. Thanks guys I appreciate it.

Default Not sure I can answer this completely...

But I would imagine that the ecodes would be a direct fit (same body style). The HID kit I purchased plugged into my stock electrical connections. Hopefully somebody else can pipe in and confirm...

As far as the shape of the headlight they will fit but someone was trying to say that I would need to do some electrical work also but I did not know what they were talking about.

Default Have you read the tech article?

I assume it's very similar...the wiring required for my kit was very simple and it was basically a direct connect into the stock wiring harness.
