Default Hood repaint costs

So after I had an engine fire a while back there was a place a little bigger than the size of a quarter where the paint on my hood had bubbled up. It has now chipped away leaving the metal exposed. I have lots of rock chips as well from driving C/S to Denver every day. I figure even though everything is galavanized that crap they put on the roads here could probably eat right through.
So, does anyone know how big of an area could be airbrushed? Would it look good or just look like crap? How much should I expect to have to pay to have the whole hood repainted or could a shop just do the very front of the hood. I have one estimate for over $500 which I thought seemed a little high. Sorry, I do not have any pictures of it yet. Also, any shops in Colorado Springs that are recommended? TIA

Default I know Red Noland is highly recommended, expensive though...

I also know another recommended shop, I'll have to get back on their name. They're on Valley, between Omaha and Galley, in other words, the east side of Powers, is Valley. My mechanic is the next building down. They do alot of custom hot rod fabrication also. For cheaper work, in terms of price, Rocky Mountain Body & Paint off of Platte, is supposed to be good and reasonable. Tim Snavily is the owner, (719) 637-1500 324 Auburn Dr. I can tell you who to not go to including: Arthurs, Cars Collision, Al (don't remember the shop's name, but is off of Platte, close to Platte where the industrial area w/ the motorcycle shops used to be/are.) Black & White does crappy work also. Seems like I know the crappy ones more.

Default seems like the tanman would know...

$500 seems way steep if you ask me. Especially if YOU provide the materials.

Default Update to another potential body shop, I mentioned in above post, yesterday...

***'s Restoration Auto Restoration-Antique & Classic (719) 573-7006
1130 Valley Colorado Springs, CO 80915 - 2838 This is the place that is close to my mechanic and he has recommended them. However, I can't be sure that the price is going to be for the budget conscious. Anyway, good luck on locating a shop.
