The more I think about it, the more strange that is
I thought 235/45 was the tire of choice back then...it's what I run (albeit on S6 wheels)
My 16" original wheels came with 215/55-16. The non-sport 2.7T came with "5 spoke" wheels. Here are some other wheel tidbits from my experience: (Note PST and PSK are the equipment codes for two different "sport" packages.)
A6 2.7T "5 spoke":
16x7 ET45 "Ronal 7Jx16 H2ET45"
4B0 601 025 F
A6 2.7T PST "BBS":
17x7.5 ET43
A6 2.7T PSK "Split spoke":
16x7 ET45
S4 Avus:
17x7.5 ET45
S6 Avus:
17x8 ET35 "Speedline"
all 5x112 bolt pattern
