radar is conical, and so can capture multiple cars in one shot. For instance, one car going 35, the other passing at 45, the conical nature of the radar can catch the 45 and attribute it to the car going 35. On the other hand, laser is a focused shot, with no possibility for that radar type mis-allocation.
This is information I got from anther attorney who fought a speeding ticket based upon the "conical" theory of radar. Now, he could have been pulling this out of his a$$, but it seems logical to me

By the way, this didn't address your question at all really. I don't know if you have the right to see the gun. What I do know is that when this Littleton cop saw me, I saw his radar gun with a "47" on it when he came up to my window.

if you've got two cars near each other (within "the cone"), choose the car that appears to be going faster. That's where the ambiguity can creep in.
With a laser, they can see which car it's aimed at.
