Well after getting the wintersport m3's back on yesterday, I'm ready to drive carelessly in all sorts of snow conditions! On a more serious note, I ran blizzak ws-50's on my jetta for two season, and I must say, they kick the crap out of the m3's on snow and especially on ice. However, their dry handling sucks accordingly. Which side does everyone else take in this fierce battle!

I had blizzak ws-50s on my old front wheel drive car. The thing was a tank in the snow. Up here in steamboat it snows a lot, never once did I get stuck or come even remotely close to getting stuck with those tires. Acceleration, cornering, braking, everything was perfect. Problem was they were so soft that when there wasn't snow on the road they pretty much disolved right before my eyes.
I just bought an audi a4 quattro about two weeks ago and got new blizzak lm25s for it. They definitely do not corner or brake as well as the ws-50s. Acceleration is a bit stronger but thats due to quattro, not the tires.
I took my car to a huuuuge empty parking lot today and messed around with it trying to find it's limits. The lm25s performed much better than my expectations of them. The steering would sometimes go loose or the back end would kick out if I pushed it too hard, but almost immediately I would regain traction again and be in complete control. They're a small step down from the ws-50s but are still super good quality snow tires. I will have no problems at all with them, even in the worst conditions.
I havn't had a chance to try them on dry pavement yet, but just by looking at them and feeling them I imagine they will be signifigantly better than the ws-50.

I-70 to Glenwood clear in most spots, but snowing in some sections.. Carbondale to Aspen pure snow. New M3's, Great in the dry of course, but they are equally good in the fluff IMHO

after a foot of fresh! Too bad that new development is going to ruin my favorite winter testing ground! Btw Oakwood, if you ever see a white jetta wolfsburg cruising around steamboat give him a howdy--that's my best friend. I'll be up there off and on. I unfortunately didn't buy a pass this year; I though I was moving back to Germany.
