the argument from the gas companies is still correct, to burn cleanly *in a normally aspirated engine* at altitude, 85 might be fine (this won't make a clear dif between carburated and FI) but a non-normally aspirated (turbo or supercharger)engine still needs the higher requirements as the altitude is compensated for (for the most part) by the increased pressure.
