Default OT - Denver Metro Sprinkler BT:

I live a little west of DU -
How often should I have my sprinkler system run per week?

What's the best time to do it? Late afternoon, middle of the night, or early morning???

Thanks much!

Default 2-3 times/week, early morning is my scheme.

Anything but late afternoon - more evaporates than gets in the ground.

Default Yes, early morning and/or late evening.

I have my system set to run 3 days a week, 10 min/zone. On the watering day the system runs at 6am and 8pm unless it was overcast/cool then I hit the rain delay and skip the evening cycle.

Default I run mine M, Th, Sat with 3 zones starting at 4:30am for 30 min each zone

I'm using gear drive Orbit-brand heads. My water gauge reads 1" per week, which is spot on.

Default Yep - morning is the key as there usually is less wind then

If you can set up your sprinkers to run twice - that is the best system -

The first run lets the water perculate down - then the second time it comes on (say ten to fifteen minutes after it shuts off the first time the water will go deeper.)

Default morning 3-4 days a week 30 min per zone x 9 zones.

of course 6 of those 9 zones are just drip lines for the trees. :-)

Default Don't sell yourself short... that's still NINE ZONES!!

Ferris Beuller's Day Off...

NINE TIMES!!

I don't know if anyone got the above connection but I giggled, and that's all that matters to me.
