Default The WS60 looks really good. I was going to get a set this year, but my Hankook W300's still have

another year of tread left. I almost wish they wore out faster so i could try the new Blizzak.

Yup, Nokian RSi's are far and away better than anything else on snow and ice...

Default I'm sure a set of studded Hakka's would be better than RSi's on snow/ice

but that would be major overkill.

Default According to their respective websites, neither the Hankook or the Nokian.....

come in the size I need. Hankook doesn't list ANY 18" Ice Bear W604s, and the largest 18" Nokian RSi (245/40R18 97 R XL) is too small for my application. My options are quickly disappearing :-(

Default 2 Ideas. Bridgestone makes a 225-50-18 95H in a LM-25 which is 0.2" larger

and quite abit narrow which would be good for snowy days. You would need to verify that the 95H load rating is high enough for your car. You can find this size on tirerack.com It is also $30/ tire less than the 245-45-18 Lm-25

Also Hankook W300 comes in a 245-45-18 with a 100v load rating. Most dealers are not going to stock this size as it is not super common. Also if there is a way you can get a sightly narrower tire it would be better for winter anyways.

I didn't think Nokian would make that size, but the Dunlop M3, Blizzak LM25 and the michelin pilot alpin pa2 all come in the OEM size.

http://www.hankooktireusa.com/product/W300.pdf</a

Default going narrow and a bit taller would increase your snow/ice traction

though will make it a bit more squirmy on the dry.

Default We have the Hankook's in 16", not very happy with them...............

when we did the winter driving school on Georgetown, I was really unhappy with them on ice.

Default That is not totally accurate. Snow tires are now designed to hold snow...

And use the snow on the tire to stick to the snow on the road. It used to be that snow tires were designed to cut through the snow and ice, thus the narrow tire made sense.
