I have something leaking behind the wall of our basement bathroom I'll probably have to tear out the sink & cabinet to get to it.
Why does this stuff happen when you can least afford to have it fixed?
Hmm... fix the car or the water leak? I think the home will have to come first.

From under the sink I ripped out a small section of dry wall (easy enough since it was water soaked). I could see no visible signs of water leaking. So I try filling the sink up and draining it - maybe part of the drain was leaking. Nope.
Well, our washing machine is right on the other side of the wall - so I start a wash cycle and watch. Nothing while it's filling, then when it starts to drain - HOLY F***ING S**T! By the looks of it, 50% of the water draining from the washer is ending up inside my wall.
Now to the other side of the wall. I cut out a small section of dry wall just below where the washer drain goes into the wall (about 3ft up). Now I see the drain is clogged somehow, and the water from the washer is coming back up and draining into my wall.
So, I get my little flexible claw grabber and clean out a bunch of lint from the drain the wall. Run the washer again and now it seems to be draining fine.
Thank God it wasn't a burst pipe, the only money spent on this fix is going to be to patch the dry wall - which right now I'm just going to put an access panel in just in case I have to get in there again.
Guess I can put the gas cans back for a little bit...

They're much cheaper than drywall. And usually don't involve as much swearing. Look at any hardware store.
That water coming out of the washer is always full of lint...
