Default I have done quite a bit of work with CF and Carbon/Kevlar composites...

I am no pro but I am pretty good for my limited experience. If you want we can get together sometime to talk about it. Right now unless you have a very warm garage it is just too cold to do any composite fabrication with quality epoxys and resins.

Here is a picture the CF intake I did for my old S4 and speaker boxes. This is just simple overlay but some of the same techniqes I used here combined with some other molding techniqes and a decent vacum bagging system will produce a pure composite very strong lightweigt product at very little cost. The real key is just practice and techniqe.

Default ideal ambient temps are somewhere between 78-90 degrees...

it can be done above an below those ranges but if you are just working freehand anything cooler and the resin/epoxy takes too long to set up go much higher and it sets too quickly. You can purchase epoxys that are quicker seting or have slower cure time to compinsate for tempature variations, but often what you run into is having to use a product that has poor clarity and looks yellow. In General most of the very high clarity resins have a cure time between 1 and 4 four at 80 deg.F with the exception of polyesther resins wich work great and have high clarity, but are not suitable for making pieces that will be exposed to high heat such as in the engine bay.

You can also make crude ovens using carboard or wooden boxes with either a hair dryer or heat gun if the ambient temp of the room is just too cool.

Default Well......

Perhaps start with a little MIG, but I'd really love to master TIG.
