Did you check both pads? One pad could have worn a lot more then the other
That symbol you got is to tell you that you need to replace your brakes pads. Atleast that is what my manual says.

What if the pad sensor is faulty?
It is my understanding that the pad sensor is a piece of metal that, while the pad has enough depth won't ground, put as the pad wears, grounds - making your little idiot light come on.
I know on my car, one of my pad sensor connectors is broken (same as disconnected) which also will signal that light to come on.
Check to see if all of the sensors are plugged in appropriately and all the wires are in good shape.

Brake pad sensor. Need new brakes or faulty sensor.
I had that warning when I needed brake pads. Then it lit up again after they changed it and it was a faulty sensor. They had to change the pad with the faulty sensor.

2nd on the inner pad idea...sometimes they just dont wear evenly....
i had that happen on my rears...outer pad looked good (and since they have no wear sensors on the rear) i thought the inner was fine as well. 2 new rotors and a set of pads later...you get the point!
