Reduced point "defective vehicle", etc don't mean squat with your ins. carrier.
Bastages raised my rates for 2 of these, 18 and 24 months ago (in my 3/4T dodge for cripes sakes), and an $1,100 fender bender (fvcking AMEX screwed me on that one) in a rental car. $20,000 or $1,001 damage doesn't matter to them.
To top it off, they "cancel" your old policy and write a new one, you get a nasty letter from AoA from the cancellation, and then they apologize for the "inconvenience."

I got a 4 point speeding ticket on I-70 last summer...
Missed the timeframe to plea it down by mail so I went to the first court appearance. They were willing to give me a 0 point "Operating Unsafe Vehicle" plea, so you might want to check that out. I got super lucky and went all the way...cop didn't show = no ticket
