19" Tire Rubbing Questions

A few posts have stated that you need a special 19" tire so not to rub on the inside. I have been told to look at PS2 255/35/19 XL PRO 1's. Is this right? Does anyone recomend any other summer tires? What's a good deal for four?

You only need to worry about the "special" tires if you have the factory 19" x 9" wheels which have a 35 mm offset. Which wheels do you have? Other 19" wheels with different offsets / widths may not need any "special" tires. I am running 19" x 8.5" with 32mm offset with standard tires.

If you are looking for real good data, you'd better learn to check another board that was more information than here.
<a href="http://www.rs6.com/forum/search.php"> RS6.com </a>
Use the search feature, and enter 'PS2' and choose RS6 from the forum list.
You'll find great information on all tires in 19" size. Great reading.
As for PS2, if your wheel is 9" wide and offset between 29-35, you do need a special tire. The regular PS2 will rub. Details will be found as you read the results of your search.

I finally picked up a set up RS-GT rims which I have wanted for some time now. They are 19X8.5, bolt pattern is 5 on 112 and offset is et38. They have Bridgestone 235/35/19 Potenza RE050A Pole Position tires. I think they should have 255/35/19's and was concerned about getting the "special" offset and XL tires (as discussed in the thread below).
Slicer, I know you are running a similar setup so any help would be much appreciated. Also Nene, I will check that forum.
Thanks guys!

Michelin PS2 model number needed. But your tire person can look at their Michelin catalog and also find it. This is only for Michelin PS2 tires not other brands. And again the point is to order the version that does not have the inner rim protector lip.

Yep; I have nearly the same setup. Mine are RS-GT's too. The only difference is that I have the 32mm offset version. I can't say for sure but yours may be a little tight on the inside with your offset but I am 99% sure they will be fine.
What I can say for sure is that the stance will look silly. I installed my 32mm offset wheels and was not happy with the stance / look. Yours will be 6mm narrower (and 8mm narrower than the stock 18's (30mm offset)). Go out and buy some spacers IMMEDIATELY. I use 12mm spacers with my wheels and it makes a huge difference (effectively giving me a 20mm offset). It pushes the wheels right out to the edge of the fenders. I had to remove the 12:00 screw in the fender liner but they do not rub at all now.
For your application I recommend buying 12mm to 18mm spacers. I bought mine directly from BBS. The cool thing about the BBS spacers is that they fit perfectly into the wheel. It's hard to explain but you have to remove the hub-centric ring and the spacers slide into the center of the wheel. This is important because it insures your wheels are centered (if they are not centered you will experience vibrations - maybe you like that.. ha ha). Spacers from ECS or H&R will work too but you leave the hub-centric ring in place. The BBS spacers just seem more fool-proof. If you want me to get more descriptive let me know.
