Default 45mph to 70mph in 3.1 seconds....

Q1: is this true....

Q2: what other cars come close to this.....(who can't you leave in the dust on the highway?)

I am in the process of changing jobs and then moving. Next step after that will be to buy an RS6. I just sold my B6 S4 and am convinced this will be a major upgrade!

Default huge upgrade. S4 not in same ballpark

this from plenty of chases on the track.

Default The RS6 falls between the RS4 and the S4, though closer to the RS4..

Due to its lower weight, my experience has been that my old B7 S4 (chipped, downpipes and exhaust, stasis, manual tranny and alcons-put the S4 over the top) was more fun to drive than my previous RS6. But that is not a fair contest...CHip the RS6, and even though it is heavier and ...gulp.. an automatic..it would proably be a LOT more fun to press and mash...and hold on very tight...

I had major suspension issues with the RS6 so it tainted my opinion, but for two years was a heck of a lot of fun..suspension first shi& the bed at 19k miles...

I never did chip it, but the only way I would ever buy an RS6 today is if it had an aftermarket suspension on it, and those have some major troubles, and it was warrantied to 100k miles. Chip it and a true beast, it will beat the RS4 straight out in the 1/4 mile. You can get a good one for about 35grand, chip it, and have a beast on your hands, but will be a lot less reliable than your B6....

The E55s are very cheap as well, and hits 100 over a second faster...not my style, but loads of tq without the suspension issues....

http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e39-m5-e52-z8-discussion/28060-469bhp-e55-vs-444bhp-rs6-vs-400bhp-m5-long.html</a
<

Default and umm that E55 only does that on dry pavement. The other 100 days of the year you rule in the RS6

depending on where you live. In the midwest I will never drive a rear wheel drive car again, unless I am wealthy enough to garage it for half the year (which is a waste in my opinion. Same I feel about having a boat up here...its silly.

Default and having just read the numbers my car is faster 0-60 than 4.8. It is

closer to the 4.3 to 4.6 depending on how good I do. Judging by the cars i've taken down this must be the case. Not all RS6s were created equal as I know mine does similar to the one tested by Car and Driver or Road and Track (not sure which without looking it up) that did much better than Audi's published number for 0-100/0-62.

PS, just read the post again where it talks about the older SL55...I've taken one of those 0-60 as well (however I will be staying away from anything wearing an AMG '63' badge...I'm not stupid).

Long story shorter the RS6 is a great car that requires really thinking about money for maintenance. But it never fails to impress me. Especially for instance when tooling around in a fresh 6" snow.

Default Chipped RS6 is reliable and suspension upgrade is getting cheaper.

With a Chip upgrade on the RS6 your looking at 500bhp with reliability. You can't do this with a new S4 or RS4, maybe 10~20 bhp with a chip and exhaust. As for the suspension, their have been some good alternatives come out lately such as the KW V3, and they have actually been coming down in price with coilovers for other cars. The only reliability issue in my mind that can't be easily or fairly cheaply done is the tranny. These have been known to fail but not as regular as the suspension (suspension is farily easy and reasonably price to upgrade). Some say change the fluid every 40K and it will be fine. I have 52K on my car and did the tranny fluid about 45K. Audi says fluid for life like on all their cars like many manufacturers now but their lifespan expecttations are off warranty and maybe 100K+. I expect more. There is still the fact that with chips you can easily get 50bhp more out of the RS6 which is a much easier upgrade than doing anything on a normally aspirated engine. MGH
P.S. I by no means think of my RS6 as a track car. A Grand Touring car that I have made select improvements (chips, exhaust, BBS, pads, lightweight battery, pulleys, RNS-E). I have a stripped down 911 and a 944Turbo for the track.

Default I agree about the RS6 completely.....

Just threw a few other cars out there to consider. the e55 is a screamer with over 500 of tq, and the e39 M5 is/was a great car, and handles very well for a big car. In my RS6, while it was fast as hell, I always knew it was a big heavy car. That was not the case with the e39 M5. Like I said. I owned the RS6 for two years, and I agree Audi's published times are not accurate on it..they listed a 14 sec 1/4 mile....right....

The AWD is great, and for me it is why i made the jump from M cars to the RS series.

Default Any time, any place* in my S600. I'll eat your lunch in a stock RS6.

And BTW, this was my best stock 0-60 time in my RS6....

* No snow, no wet conditions, no turns on a track, etc... Ha!
