Default E55 = tail happy muscle car (t/c off). RS6=incessant composure + monstrous capability.

I love the tail happy Dukes of Hazzard type fun you can have in the 'kompressorized' AMG E55/SL55 etc, but the Audi is a far more composed tool. With quattro, your bidding gets done, no traction control or ESP even needed (excepting snow).

The RS6 is more composed all the way around.

The E55 is more 'barely composed' or 'not composed' depending on your inputs. The instantaneous torque of the compressor and the rwd layout make traction/stability control essential to daily driving (you turn it off when you WANT to). The E55 is also less composed as a driving machine, behaving really like a german muscle car more than a 'driving machine'.

I love the 'specialness' of the RS6, too - E55's are everywhere.

Both are great cars in their own way, so it's a question of which way is 'your way'?

The E55 is missing half of a drivetrain.

Default True....

I am used to rwd cars with some power....but then again, I aint doing much tracking now days so an AWD car would be a more useful car...just in case I want to venture up to Tahoe this winter (prolly take the GX470 though). We get a fair amount of rain too, so AWD would be a plus there too.

So, what kind of guy am I? I am a rear wheel drive power slide kinda guy. But times and needs change. Those things will not be so important with my next car.

Default I was pretty much dead even with an E55 from 70-120...

...but that was a while ago when I had 20-30 less horsepower than I have now. Oh wait, and I drive a lowly twin-turbo S4 (2.7T). Sure, I have no back seat and some turbo lag, but I've got 600-700 less pounds than an RS6 when the twisties come a calling. ;-)

But between an RS6 and an E55, I'd take the RS6.

Default In the Bay area I'd go with quattro: Rain, Tahoe that's quattro territory. Much nicer to drive

a car up to Tahoe than a GX470 anyway - far better driving dynamics in the snow due to the lower center of gravity.

Maybe a Q7 would be a good idea in the future - they're making a high performance variant at some point...
