Default Dash buttons starting to "stick" for HVAC

When I try to raise temp on driver's side, the button sticks. I have to press the lowering button to correct it, then go back & forth sometimes to get it right. The "auto" button in the center sticks at times, too, though not as often. Gotta get fixed because at times it's a driver distraction in heavy traffic -- not good.

Has anyone here had experience getting these repaired or replaced? Any idea how pricey it is to do at a dealership? Should I get all HVAC buttons done so that I won't need to return for additional work as the other buttons fail?

Default For a cost-effective solution, you might try...

spraying some electrical contact cleaner around the buttons, although I cannot say whether it will affect the coating on the buttons. That said, if you direct the spray into the gap around the buttons and do not wipe off any overspray off, but let it evaporate, you shouldn't have any issues with the coating.

Default I had the coating peeling off mine...they do not repair the buttons, they just replace the entire

unit. So I have a feeling they will have no idea how to just work on the buttons. I think the entire unit was $800 or so I think they said if it was not under warranty...i could be really wrong about that, but it is the same as a normal A6 so may actually be a cheaper part for a change.

Default Thanks to all! Encouraging response Thurs from Pure Protection folks

They took down info re the buttons sticking. No objections, and it's not on the exclusion list for my Platinum coverage, so looks like they'll fix it. Nothing official, though, until I take it to dealer, dealer takes a look & calls them. I just passed 74K mi so need to schedule 75K mi $ervice anyway before I make 1500 mi drive north in a few weeks.

Also inquired about the carbon fiber covers on my air filter(s), which seem to be fading. The cf piece that's front & center looks like new, but the two larger panels are starting to look pale by comparison. Not so sure they'll cover that, since it may be simply a cosmetic issue. But if fading is a sign that cf is deteriorating, most likely from heat .... guess I'll find out soon enough, but input here is certainly welcome!
