Default Differential Fluid change

Ok, it is easy to do the rear differential and the center but where is the fill and drain plug for the front differential? I think I may have found either the fill or drain (although it is halfway up the right side differential cover? The Bentley really sucks, it doesn't even show anything other than capacity for the center diff.

I am looking to do the same soon.

I will try and remove one of the lower bolts and see if it drains otherwise we will need to suck it out.

I would have thought Audi would have done better for this but you may be right on having to suck it out. The other two diff's and the tranny were pretty easy to do. Does anyone know what the factory tranny fill fluid looks like new? Mine did look fairly grey to black in color and not very transparent or reddish like I'm use to seeing in ATF. I'm replacing mine with Redline D4 as well as Redline 75w-90 in the differentials. I've been using Redline in the engine for some time. MGH

Default Pretty sure gear oil doesn't look like ATF fluid

Never seen any that wasn't a very dark shade of brown right out of the bottle - mainly due to its heavy weight. Suppose a synthetic might be different but it's still a very different lubricant than ATF, iirc.

Default Redline is a great choice.

If I was off warranty I'd have Redline everywhere as well. I've had the dealer change the fluids previously, so I get the Audi stuff.
I run Redline in my M3 and the 250k mile F250.

Yea, the gear oil looked and smelled like usual but the ATF looked more like the gear oil than any ATF I've seen before. So I'm still wondering if anyone has seen the factory ATF fresh? I'll be driving the car tomorrow on it's new Redline all around and if it seems any different (tranny ATF) I'll let you all know. MGH

Default Finished the fluid change

Like I said, the rear and center differentials were easy, on the front, I ended up sucking it out the fill hole as I didn't find a drain hole. I may take another look in a week or two and if I can't find the drain hole I may swap out the front fluid one more time as I'm not convinced that sucking the fluid out gets most of it? I'll take the car for a drive on Saturday to see how it runs as I have to pick up my new for me tt tomorrow so I'll be driving that. MGH

There is no drain on the front diff.
