Extended warranty... Recommendations on short notice

I'm getting a door panel replaced tomorrow at the local Audi dealer, who also quoted me $2800 for a 5yr/100k from purchase through Millenium Automotive Protection when I asked what they offered. That was if bought with less than 35k, and I'm at 34765. Has anyone used this company for an extended warranty, or have other suggestions? Thanks for the input on prices and possible alternatives.

I've done some research on this topic, which might help.
I haven't used Millenium or read their contract, but I have gone over in detail the service contract our local Audi dealer offers and a couple others. The AoA contract is officially with Volkswagen US, administered by Fidelity Warranty Services. This service contract can be had in many combinations of years & mileage.
The years start from your in-service date on some of these deals, on Jan 1 of the model year of your car on others, and on the date your purchase the warranty on yet others.
The AoA Platinum version of the Fidelity service contract is exclusionary - meaning it covers everything not listed in the exclusions section. The other levels (Gold, silver, etc) are 'listed' plans, which only cover the parts specifically listed.
The AoA / Fidelity service contract covers parts that fail to meet performance requirements, even if they don't fail. This so-called wear & tear coverage is good to 50k, but no matter what, only covers the listed parts for 'listed' plans, and would not cover excluded parts for 'exclusionary' plans. And wear & tear will almost never cover brakes, clutches, tires, etc.
The warranty claim and reimbursement schemes differ. Some require you call a number before doing anything. Some require you pay the bill, and submit a claim for reimbursement, others will only pay the servicer directly.
Some plans have restrictions on who they will reimburse - some will direct you to avoid dealers, although I'd be surprised if a dealer-sold plan does this. The AoA/Fidelity plan tries to get you back to the selling dealer.
Finally, some warranties have loads of caveats, like they will not reimburse you for 'sludge in the oil' damage, or overheating, or failure to maintain the vehicle in strict accordance with the manufacturer's recommended service schedule.
So, to answer your question:
- find out the start date
- find out if its a listed or exclusionary plan
- find out if the parts you are worried about are covered
- find out who they let do the work
- find out what silly exclusions/hoops they require.
The best thing is to get hold of the contract and read as much of it as you can take.
For comparison's sake, the AoA / Fidelity / Platinum warranty, availble only to cars less than 3 years old (and within manufacturer's OEM warranty) was quoted to as:
5 yr / 75k: $2143
6 yr / 60k: $1798
7 / 70: $2408
These plans start with Jan 1 of the model year (2003), unless your vehicle has under 6k miles.
At another dealer, another member was quoted $1875 for 5/75 AoA/Fidelity/Platinum plan, your mileage may vary.
I've also got quotes on a very good plan from aaautowarranty.com selling a Warranty America, Bumper-to-Bumper plan (exclusionary plus wear & tear), $100 deductible, 4 yrs from today / 60k, $2977, 4 / 75 $3122, 5 / 75 $3525
These rates will vary depending on vehicle age and current milage. My quotes were for a Sept 03 RS6 w/3k miles.
Hope there's something in here that helps - and let us know how it turns out - Godspeed.

Thanks for sharing...
Signing off on this tomorrow for the peace of mind. The deal seems fair enough for "bumper to bumper", it's locally backed, and even though my local dealer is small, they have been great to work with and have given me no hassles as I see in posts regarding brakes and such. Thanks again.

I'm told the Audi Preferred is available at many of the dealers. The prices differ, as there is some kind of kick-back, volume discount, or the like.
I can fax or scan a copy of the contract, if interested.
I did get the Audi Preferred Platinum. It was a better deal than getting the car CPO'd, for a couple reasons.
4k seems like too much - cost to you, and profit for him!
