No warning. Started slipping and bucking one day. Took it into dealer for the bad news......Good thing I didn't replace the chip yet.

Default I was just thinking of posting about how reliable our RS6's have been...

no one is complaining about their dealer or waiting for parts.
It's all my fault, sorry

Hopefully this is just a one-off episode. Transmission problems on stock RS6's haven't cropped up until now from what I can tell.

I feel your pain. Hopefully a replacement transmission will be readily available.

Default Transmission's are not 100% reliable even with stock torque

My business partner's tranny went in under 10k miles IIRC. Slipping lockup clutch - figured it out when the fuel consumption started increasing rapidly.

Mine has a little niggle where in Tip mode, shifting from 4th to 5th with WOT sometimes makes it hunt into 5th, then back to 4th. Used ot happen at around 120, but now happens at 100 just as often. Not diagnosed yet, too lazy to go to the dealer too often.

Default $16k cost replace I'm told it's an epidemic

3 04 S4's in with similar tranny issues. Minimum one week for repairs. Any thing beyond that and I will be pissed about paying for ti while in the shop. I got a A4 1.8t with the snowmobile tranny in it for a loaner from the dealer. They should at least give me an A8...

Default Nope, and it's looked after properly as well - always "treated right"

I forgot to say that I suspect I'm starting to get a little tiny bit of slip in 3rd gear sometimes - it's especially noticable in D when pulling from low rpms, seems ot be far worse than it was. I drive most of the time im Tip though, so I rarely notice, but I have had the odd time or two where I've thought the revs peaked slightly out of synch with speed increase under full load in 3rd, so...
