Audi and Onstar declined to develop a digital update for its customers, so as of Jan 1 2008, our Audi Onstar Telematics will cease to function as they are mandated to switch from our analog systems to digital only at that time..
Personally, I dont use the travel features so much, but the hands free voice activated phone will be missed..

Oh, ya, glad Audi did not provide an updated model....even with we offered to BUY the friggen thing....
Maybe James Cruze will create one for us.

Example: Alligator Alley, across the Everglades in Florida. Very remote, my Sprint mobile does not work or even offer roaming, but car phone works fine. I suspect it's because the car phone doesn't use Sprint and the carrier they DO use has a stronger signal there.
That still doesn't explain why there's no roaming, tho. I didn't use the car phone much, or OnStar, but it was great to have them the few times they were needed. Sorry to hear they're disappearing.
