Default Slight but noticeable throttle response

Anyone experience in correcting a lack of throttle response. Upon slow and grudual launch-( gass peddle ) throttle seems to go numb as you depress the gas peddle and then a split-second later leaps with power. Possible culprits, spark plug harness, other electrical components, gas-line, or throttle mechanism itself???

Also, what are N75's and DV's???

Any relationship with this issue- it is not the lack of power only the initial lack of response from the gas peddle-throttle!

Any thoughts to pose to the mechanic as I take it in next week, Thanks!

Default Re: Slight but noticeable throttle response non action

I have had a similar experience and still experiencing it occasionally.

Happens when moving out of a car park onto road after day at work, so engine temperature needle has barely moved, and drive out slowly onto road, then when open throttle to move quickly to match road speed with other cars, engine momentarily does nothing-no drop in slow speed revs and then a second or two later fires up as should.

this is not turbo lag.

provides the occcasional heart starter when fast moving heavy traffic around!

I spoke to local audi dealer mechanic trained in rs6's and he advised this was a an "inbuilt engine safety feature" to prevent the engine being over revved/transmission being stressed when cold.

All sounds various dubious to me.

The beast never does this "no response to throttle action thingy" any other time.

So when leaving carpark to go onto road, just have to make sure that no other maniac rs6 or bmw M5 or amgC63 or porsche 996/997 or GM commodore V8 SS/HSV (pontiac G8 to you guys over the pond) coming towards me at rapid rate of knots!

ps only 2 other RS6's in Perth, so dont have to worry about them!

ps I am rolling at about 1-2 mph when this "no response" occurs.

the beast appears to lose momentum when throttle is depressed before responds.

No, this is not 'Turbo Lag' - my instinct is that it is a small but deeper issue. It is something to do with the electrical or throttle response mechanism perhaps.

I am to go in for 45K service next week and this will be priority w/ service- I will keep you posted on results. Spark plugs and harness will be considered if RS mechanic thinks it might help.

Again, the beast does not do this on normal driving and it seems to be better when warmed up- but first thing out of driveway- the car seems to want to think for a split-second and wait before going!

Any more thoughts.....thanks!

Default N75 is a valve controlled by the ecu to regulate boost and DV's are divertor valves...

They release boost back into the air circulation.

orcars6- identical "no throttle response" sympton with my beast.

I look forward to your dealers mechanics "reason".

Vagcom analysis showed nothing on my beast, other than engine "over revved" at some time.

This I could not explain to dealer mechanic, unless ECU got "over revved" response and shuts everything down till wakes up to fact that beast is only going 2 mph!

I remain yours,
perplexed.

I will keep you posted in the next week or so...Perth- I have family in Perth- I am in Northern California San Francisco area. If I make it to Perth one day- I will make it a point to touch base w/ my Beast owning people!

Cheers.

Default Have them check your Mass Airflow Sensors.

Sounds like what happens when they fail..
