Tires "cupped" at 12K Miles!!!
I posted a week or so ago about some vibration in the steering at speeds 70+. Began to notice this just after tire rotation - so expected the issue to be balance. NOT! While having Audi perform the service for the recall notice (wire harness issue) I had them check the tires. All of the tires showed signs of cupping and the left rear inside edge had worn completely thru the tread in one area.
Question - any other RS6 owners with this mileage noticing this early tire wear?
Any recommendations on replacements? Thinking of Pirelli Pzeros or ContiSportContacts.

Re: Tires "cupped" at 12K Miles!!!
What brand of tire came on your car? Have the tires been rotated prviously? If rotated, were they rotated front to rear, or, cross rotated (i.e. left front to right rear and right front to left rear)? If one tire is significantly worse that the other 3 it may be indicative of something wrong with that tire or the rim the tire was mounted on?
I am approaching 15K miles with the original Pirelli Pzeros and no sign of cupping. I can detect a small saw tooth effect to the out side edge of the front tires but otherwise the tires have been great.

Huge, recent thread on rs6.com re. tires, you have to be careful of load ratings w/ the RS
Audi specs an "over-load" rating<ul><li><a href="http://www.rs6.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3568">Mega RS 6 Tire Discussion</a></li></ul>

Re:I ran that same Dunlops on my other Audi
and they worn even and no problem...have the same on my RS6 and so far no problem. But if they are cupping...anyone of several reasons can cause that to happen. Years ago had a set do that and it was because the belts shifted. All of my driving is normal every day driving. What are your tire people telling you why it has done this?

No PS2s, BF Goodrich or Toyo tires in 18" for US RS6
19" may be available, I don't know, but in 18" I've been over this with luke@tirerack.com many times and the only 18" tires that will fit, are available in US, AND have the Heavy Load rating recommended by Audi, are the Pirellis and Dunlops that came OEM, plus Michelin Pilot Sports (but not PS2)
Again, before flaming, this is for 18" availability in US only. If you can find something else at 18" with the Heavy Load rating and proper fit (e.g. 40 height will work but 45 will throw off instruments), let us know. Otherwise the thread mentioned by ICONCLS above should help.

The PS2 is NOT an all-season tire...
It's a maximum performance tire.
