Wow - the C5 RS6 reputation precedes itself - selling for under $22k. Ouch.

Just guessing. I'm not really familiar with ebay except as I see listings through links here. If I listed my car there, I'd be legit but showing zero feedback because it would be my first time -- right? One needs a good reputation before having credibility as a big ticket seller -- is that what you're saying? Please enlighten.

... is trustworthy and has "made good" on prior sales. This certainly doesn't mean there isn't a first-time for everyone, but there have been WAY too many instances of unscrupulous "sellers" stealing photos and listing items they don't have. Sure, few people would transfer large sums without some reliable proof the car exists as described, but these fraudulent types are happy if they're able to get a $500 "down payment" and then disappear.
I have purchased two vehicles (including the 911 shown below) from eBay sellers. In both cases, I required third-party pre-purchase inspections (two, actually, in the case of the Porsche) before I sent any money at all. The cost of those inspections is VERY cheap money, in my view. If the seller won't cooperate...walk away quickly.
