Can I migrate to an RS3...am I nuts???
Hi all,
I love my '15 RS7, it's truly an amazing car, perfect blend of luxury and hair on fire. Love it. That said, I'm coming up to a decision point of:
1) buy out lease and keep (33k miles, mint condition, why not?)
2) trade in for a new RS7 of similar build
3) trade in for a new Performance RS7 (560 works just fine, but 605, heh heh)
4) trade in for a 2018 RS3 and get my wife a new Q7 (practical, points with wife, but what about me???)
So, would love any viewpoints on this one.
Specifically, if 1, 2 or 3, why?
Or, if #4, am I nuts? The drive of the RS3 I'm sure will be pretty fun, but will the size drive me crazy? I have younger kids so the space could work (small humans) but overall, I'm questioning my sanity here...luxury sedan to go cart?
Of course I know what they say about opinions but I'm soliciting them from my fellow 'spoiled rotten rocket ship sedan owners!' . Thanks guys, appreciate the insights.

Great perspective, thanks. I'm actually well in the money after the buyout, but your point about the size of the RS3 really resonates, that was a big concern. Appreciate your reply. Cheers.

I have a 2016 S6 and I'm getting rid of it to get an RS3. My wife has an S3 which I love driving. The S6 is an amazing car but it's not as fun to drive as the S3. I find myself driving the S3 more and more and don't mind the size and think with the extra 108 HP in the RS3 I won't miss the S6. The 2017 S3 has great seats and the virtual cockpit seems more advanced than the S6. I think you and your wife will be happy with option 4

Thanks affalterbach, great perspective. I am banking on the RS3 smaller footprint to feel sportier and that feel to help me swallow the loss of HP and torque...I'm sure it will be a blast to drive. I went to the dealer and put my golf bag + the 2 kids' bags in the trunk, the cut outs allowed for all 3 to fit no problem without removing any clubs (sun mountain carry bag, not full tour bag style). Now I just have to get over the staggered wheels issue, but I'll bite the bullet on that one too. Talked to my dealer and he doesn't see any way to get around it if you want the Performance package. First world problems! Good luck.

It really depends upon your expectations....
If it were me (and I know its not), I am a dedicated canyon carver and would rather have an RS3 over an RS7 (or my current RS5). The handling and agility will be fantastic. However, if you love the long legs and premier luxury of the RS7, than you will be disappointed in the RS3. They are such different beasts. If you use the back seat of the RS7, then you will surely be unhappy with the RS3.
