Default I imagine...

the same thing it said in the VAG owner manuals for the 1.8T of past years...you know, the recommended oil and interval that caused the major oil sludge issue that resulted in the TSB we all live under now(i.e. Audi approved oil list).

Just because a mfgr under major free maint cost obligations further extends out their service intervals to defray costs, doesn't make it right, or wise. If you feel comfortable leaving any oil in for 20k(or even 10k), then go for it. But that is WAY too long for me.

Default No I don't feel comfortable with 20k but I'm asking about the RS4 here.

I would imagine it says 5k miles for the first oil change..no?

Default The people who tend not to sweat long oil change intervals are...

probably leasing their cars, in which case I say no problem! But, if you plunked down that kind of moeny to own a car, then 10k oil change intervals is not worth the risk, IMO.

I'm sure th RS4 states 5k for first change, abd then 10k thereafter. But 20k for the Cayman??!! On what planet?

I'm not disputing what you're saying, or that it may be Porsche's recommendation. I just think the 20k oil change is nuts. Seriously, what's up with that?

Default 5K, 15K, 25K ... from the owners manual

Oil analysis shows that we can make it to 5K oil changes, but 10K between changes is pushing it for this engine.
