Neither showed the boost that is in the factory torque curves, and that Liam and myself have seen in our dyno plots. The authors of the magazine did not make any comments on the curves at all.

i hadn't seen anything, especially any mention from the many road tests by magazines and other auto press. either they are unaware, or they consider it normal.

also, what i meant by leaning out the mixture is that, sure, the ECU and motronic will do that, but it's not desireable...a condition that may exist which necessitates the extra lean mixture. i'm not thinking air intake flap, unless it's malfinctioning. i was more using it as a reference for other conditions that could make it happen.

maybe key in on the car speed factor in opening of flap. that is very curious to me.

it tells me that there may NOT be an answer to be found based on RPM alone...which would explain a lot of things in your findings to date.

again, maybe it's entirely for top end/max speed purposes. keeping it closed until then may indeed be for drivavility and/or noise reasons.

i can't figure any other way car speed would enter in. can you?

First one (2006 RS4, 1080kms, 257KW ATW) shows the boost:
