Default The I3 Update is TSB 2013535/5

RVU - Engine Control Module Update (I3)
01 07 16 May 10, 2007 2013535/5.

Which is:

MIL on and DTC P0601 (ECM malfunction) stored in the Engine Control Module data memory. No
driveability concern.

And P0601 is:

SAE VAG Description
P0601 16985 Internal Control Module Memory Check Sum Error

I believe the changes is required so that during emissions testing the ECU can be checked for tampering.

Default FWIW, At my recent oil change my ECU was updated with a warranty reflash.

I have no idea what that is because I didn't notice it on the print out until I got home.
I have had no issues or CEL's.

Default yes, believe it was I3 recall

i never get a chance to talk to the actual tech who works on my car because im always in a rush when i pick it up...and the service advisor doesnt know much detail about fault codes.

the only answers i receive is that 'no faults have been found' and i believe this time it was the I3 recall.

service advisor told me that the tech would have to have the car for a longer time and do very specific driving techniques at certain rpm's in certain gears in order to try and recreate the problem and then test further....i thought this was somewhat rubbish because i think all 4 ECM lights came under different conditions..

but well see if it happens again

Default it's not exactly rubbish... -but without an error code your concerns about your safety are-

"the vehicle is operating to Audi mfg standards since no faults have been found"

die by wire = code?
