Default The Buick was awesome.

X-post from Chicago Forum. Scott did take that big black Jaguar around on Sunday. Its owner was there to watch one of his buddies, but it sounded like he caught the bug and will be back to drive next year.

I was topping out at redline in 4th coming down the back straight, which looked to be just north of 120. I'm too lazy to downshift twice going into 7. My TT and even the RS 4 will both come around with some throttle lifting--I can imagine how easy it'd be in a Z06 compared to these cars. Must've been a blast.

I only have one more event tentatively planned. I got a gift certificate for a Nelson Ledges fun day for my birthday last year, and I'd like to go up in October. From their website, though, I can't tell if they have any instruction onsite, so we'll see. Just being let loose with a bunch of unknown quantities would make me nervous.

Default LOL! I wish I had some video of that Buick on the track

I didn't realize you has so much footage of my car on the track. Any chance you can burn me a DVD and mail it to me? I don't think there's a way for me to download from youtube.

Thanks

Jeff

Default Great to meet you as well. Always nice to meet someone with such a good looking car

Did you get a chance to meet Mark White?

He took my car out on the track, and that was one of the most awesome experiences of my life. To see what the car can REALLY do, and to feel the way the car responds to professional inputs, it made me realize how awesome the car truly is.

I looked over at the speedo on the back straight, and almost crapped my pants when I saw 135+, all the way up to the brake zone. It was surreal.

Default Thanks. ;-)

Unfortunately I didn't stick around for that. I would've only lasted a couple laps if he were to drive my car; I do very poorly in the passenger seat. That's quite a bit faster than I dared to go, though!

Hope to see you again.

Default FYI, the Nelson Ledges FunDays have very little structure or instruction.

Now, I have heard that the track changed ownership this summer, so that could be changing. Why don't you come out for the Audi club event on August 4th (IIRC). I think it's only $99 and will have instructors. Then you could hit the fun day later in the year. Pretty sure I'm going to try to catch the ACNA event.

Default Thanks for the tip on the Fun Days.

Some experience on the track before that would definitely be beneficial. I'm off on August 4; I think the ACNA event may be a good idea.
