Are all VW504 oils 5W-30?

Factory oil loaded in the engine is 5W-30, and is most likely Fuchs Titan GT1 5W-30, according to dealers in the UK. The 504 spec is primarily a low sulfur and ash specification.
502 is the much older spec that is operative in the US, and is generally either 0W-40 or 5W-40.
If it were my car, and I wanted to stay with 502 oil, I'd use an oil that is a 5W-40 rather than a 0W-40, since 0W-40 oils are loaded with viscosity index improvers in order to meet the large viscosity spread. These VIIs tend to shear badly. Based on the information I've seen on 502 oils in this engine, I'd go with either Lubro-Moly Vollsynthese 5w40, or Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W-40. If it were possible to import some of the 504 oils, they should perform better than 502 oils, due to the newer, more advanced formulations being used.
I'd also consider the way that most of us drive our cars to place the oil service interval in the severe catagory, and would want to change my oil at lease every 5K miles.
Amsoil European Formula 5W-40 also performs extremely well in this engine, and is "recommended for 502.00 applications" and will sometimes be acceptable to dealers doing service, even though it is not approved.
IMO Renewable Lubricants Bio-Synthetic Super High Performance SAE 5W40 HD oil is currently the best performing oil in this engine. It is not approved, although it has logged quite a few miles in multiple engines, and has been tested by some of the best labs in the world, both in the US and Europe. It currently shows significantly lower wear, viscosity shear, fuel dilution and oxidation than the known 502 oils.
As for Bob's smart remark, Renewable Lubricants uses a complex formulation of advanced base stocks, including HOBS (High Oleic Base Stock) hybridized soybean based oils, which have proven to have exceptional synergistic characteristics when formulated with PAO oils.

I ran it in my 2.0t, and with only 3000 miles, the flashpoint dropped down to 340F. IIRC, there was 1.3% fuel dilution, but it was calculated by Blackstone.
Wear and everything else looked good, except Fe PPM was ~ 15 or so, but the engine had around 15k on the odo.
Due to the flashpoint drop, and that I have a turbo, i opted not to run the oil again.
Do you have any thoughts on Kendall GT-1 Full synthetic 5w40? The specs look pretty decent with a 3.8 HTHS and it is also on the 502.00 list.

Your 2.0t is going to fuel dilute with pretty much any oil, and Fe will elevate with dilution using most oils, since the fuel will continuously "clean" the additive layers. We've seen dilution with Amsoil in the RS4, but it's held up well otherwise. But, if Blackstone actually detected dilution, it must be pretty bad, since Blackstone usually under reports dilution with their open cup flashpoint measurement.
Let me know how the Kendall runs.

Available from avlube (where I buy Delvac1 for the Chevy).
Some of this is starting to make sense now. 30 weight in Europe with Strat-mode. A little fuel gets in in the US, so they spec 40 weight. At least now, I'm less worried about vis dropping to 30 weight, for whatever reason. Maybe it's supposed to?
Eh, I'm going to change it every 3k anyway.
