almost got myself into a little jam yesterday with the law...

I just checked inventory in SF bay area, and no Challengers in stock yet. This is a high volume market, so if they're out, they would have them. I figured the ex Eagle just got his hands on one early.

at the taping of Pinks at Englishtown. Dodge had a big event there that weekend for SRT8 buyers. What a pitiful showing for those cars. And the cars were being driven by good drivers, Nate Pritchett and his brother.

They could get 550 hp out of that engine if they wanted to. The 5.7 V8 for the Challenger RT will get 375 hp...another low number for the displacement.
You wouldn't be letting the fact that you're a Mustang guy color your view of the Challenger, would you?
It's too big IMO though. But I do like the fact that they stayed true to the original Challenger, more so than Mustang or new Camaro.

I'm actually a huge "old" Mopar nut. I was very excited about this car until the first review was done and they spoke of the car's size and weight. It's another evidence of the fact that Dodge is staffed by nothing but a bunch of bean counters who have no sound background in true sports car design nor connection to the history of the company. Who else would bring back the Charger name, a car originally made for Nascar, and make it a four door? Anything to sell a car. It's nothing but an updated Dodge Intrepid. Stick the Charger name on it and bam, got twice as many sales, forget about history and legacy.
And the Challenger... Hmmm, what will that crop of beans do with this one? Forget about weight, chassis dynamics, a sports car's interior... I mean, they just took a Chrysler 300 and put a different body on it and stiffened up the springs! For me, they are a waste of a car manufacturer. An absolute waste.
Now, an old Cuda , Challenger, Road Runner, Dart, etc... those are the Mopars I drool over. Anything post '74 is garbage.

yes, it's to big...but Chrysler muscle cars of that past(Charger, Challenger, Cuda/Challenger) were larger than the competiton then too.
At least the bean counters allowed the new Challenger to be built and sold. Considering Chrysler's turmoil, I'm surprised they did.
Did you say "Dart"? I don't know if I'd include that in the same muscle car league(Mustang, Camaro, Malibu, Olds 88, Charger, Challenger, etc). The Dart belongs more with the Nova.
