Default Anyone here plan on upgrading the stereo system...

I love the car, but the BOSE audio leave a lot to be desired. I like the interface and look and functionality of the OEM MMI unit, so I do not plan on changing out the head unit or any of the center stack. Just curious if anyone else plans on upgading and if anyone here has started that endeavour. I would like to do a nice clean system. I'm thinking 6.5" Focal 165 K2Ps up front, Focal Polyglass 165 CV1s for rear fill and most likely JL W6 10" for th lows. As far as amps go I am considering ARC Audio. I would like to get the IPOD interfaced in there as well.
I'm most concerned with getting a clean non BOSE adulterated signal output. I will check out the Audio Forum for but I was curious what you guys are thinking. I hate digging into a brand new interior. Things never go together quite as tight as when it comes from the factory.

Maybe you should try to de-Bose the system using VAG-COM

Default I have always pulled the stock unit in the other cars I've owned....

and normally I would agree. But it will drive me nuts seeing anything else in there. as well as the fact that that system is so well integrated. I have an Alpine Unit in my A4 which sounds great, but it still erks me with respect to the way it does not blend into the interior.
I've briefly looked into the JL Clean Sweep but it uses its own dedicated volume control. One of the feature I'm enjoying about the car is the steering wheel mounted controls.
If you have any suggestions let me know. I'm open to any ideas at this point.

Maybe a really loud exhaust is the answer. You won't even notice the stereo.

Default Not with this headunit.

It has 4 line outs. Use a line output adapter to give it RCAs and it's just like an aftermarket head unit.

Default The new exhaust is a foregone conclusion.. waiting to see some dyno numbers on the Milltek...

also considering the Magnaflow system which will most likely be a lot less expensive.
