Sounds about right, given the way the current RS4 was introduced right before the new body A4.

First I had heard of it... interesting.

In keeping with the omission of an RS4 B6...

Was worried that I'm buying a car that would be supplanted in a couple of years, but looks like I'm safe until 2012...

(i.e. face lifted and tail lifted) C6 A6, AllRoad, S6 and RS 6 supposed to come out? I would think that the face and tail lifted C6 A6/AllRoad/S6/RS 6 would come out two or three model years before the all new C7 A6 comes out.

Also, when is the B8 RS 4 going to come out? My guess is either CY2010 for MY2011 or CY2011 for MY2012. But that is merely a guess or merely speculation.
