Default Well,

they(forum) speak of early AT's not having an oil cooler. I don't know how reliable that info is, as I can't see an intercooled turbo without an oil cooler. Anyway, that's why I never buy first MY, early production models especially. Many ommissions are worked out later.

My S4 will likely be gone in a couple years. The B6 will be getting long in the tooth by then. I will consider the B8 S4, depending on the looks of the car.

Our 05.5 A4(wife's) will be at end of lease in July. She wants a Volvo S40 AWD this time. They're pretty decent, made in Belgium. I actually drove S40's before buying an 05 B6 A4 1.8T...which was traded up for the 05 B6 S4 in < a year.

I've always been partial to Audis, although a long absence without them. But, that doesn't mean I'm beholden. And I can recognize an extremely good car and good value like the 335.

Default What magical 'tool' are you all talking about? I tried to push them out with my tool and almost

ended up a castrato !

Can someone post up a pic? I've never replaced my own pads before. Just a pick of what clips to undo and which piston to stick my tool into.. ;P

Default Oh, be careful...

first, you are depressing the piston(s), not pushing them out. Second, you can damage the self adjusting component of the piston if you force them in, rather than turning in slowly with the tool.

Anyway, the "tool" is an adapter which goes on the end of a socket wrench and allows you to turn the piston in, seo that thre's room for the new, thicker pads to slide in. Not needed for removal of pads. It can be had at any parts store for around $10.

Default The S40 is a POS! I had them as rentals, the T5 is a good engine

but the rest of the car is crap.

Also complain about Audi dealers...wait till you meet your local Volvo people.

Default It's not my decision...

in driving a few S40's, I felt it wasn't as refined as an Audi A4, significantly less so. The engine and it's 218 HP is better though. So is the weight and toss-ablity, IMO. It feels lighter and more nimble.

They're good cars, early models had some reliabiity problems, but what else is new?

I am under no illusions with ANY dealers! They all would just as soon screw the customer as do their job. Sure, you find an exception once in awhile. But, dealers are there to sell you a car, and then spend the next 4 years, or however long the warranty is, fending you off. On top of that, I don't want them touching my car...so much so, that I have passed on all Audi free maint and do it myself...until the biggie at 45k.
