Default But does it sound like a volcano making love to an avalanche?

That has to be my favorite 'reviewer' quote about the RS4 to date. Is the AWE deep and robust or raspy/blatty?

I wish it could sound like the RS4, but at a minimum I want a system that sounds deeper but without the 'raspy' tones I hear from some tuners.

I need to find links to the various options. The allroad is first in line for mods though. The 997 will get 'uncorked' at some point though.

FWIW, I also (in the process of considering the RS4) contacted Labree (I really like their exhaust on the B6/7 S4). They haven't done an RS4 yet but would be happy to do it.

I'm contemplating taking the ar up there at some point.

For whatever reason, their systems sound deeper and less raspy. Just my observation.

Default obviously, it's never going to sound like a RS4....

it's relatively civil at low rpms, but becomes violent above 4000. when I said it sounds like a ALMS GT2, I meant that literally....if you've ever watched an ALMS event on TV, when they show in-car shots in any of the Porsches...that's the sound. when it hits 6000 and above, it's almost Ferrari-esque.

Default no, the insinuation that the 996 C4s isn't a track worthy car

i have one, and I should know. I've tracked that thing more than my Audi. It's light on its feet, unlike a pig that's the RS4, it has the turbo chassis, suspension, brakes, transmission. The only thing missing is the engine.

In fact, the 997 is more of a poseur than the 996. It's a narrowbody like the C2s and has none of the turbo's chassis/suspenion, etc.

Larry should know better, but I guess tooling around the streets gangsta style is more his speed.

But the RS4 is nothing more than a bulked up S4. A four door sedan and exactly how is that more trackworthy? Yes, I've driven one and instructed couple of students with their RS4s.

Default Wann, wannn, wannnnnnnnn

First of all, I am not sure if I'm misunderstanding you but you say the following:

In fact, the 997 is more of a poseur than the 996. It's a narrowbody like the C2s and has none of the turbo's chassis/suspenion, etc.

The C4S 997 is a wide body car, unlike the C2S. Am I missing something here?

Then you say this:

But the RS4 is nothing more than a bulked up S4. A four door sedan and exactly how is that more trackworthy? Yes, I've driven one and instructed couple of students with their RS4s.

Maybe you drove an RS4 a few times, but if you did you must have had your car blinders on while screaming "i can't hear or feel how great this car is, nananananananana, I can't feel or hear it!! No, nanananana!"

Seriously, if you think the RS4 is nothing but a bulked up RS4... oh nevermind, we've been down this road before about a dozen times on this board. STA...
