Carbon build up

Re: Fuel dilution 101
let's say after 5000 miles the volume is 3% gas...quite high, but for discussions sake, let's say 3%
and if you lost 1/2 qt on the dipstick...
only 3% of that is gas, 97% is oil...
so for all practical purposes any loss on a dipstick is oil, not really impacted by gas dilution...

Correct
Based on what I've seen in oil analysis with this engine, the oil loss seems to accelerate with fuel dilution and mileage on oil. Some owners using Mobil 1 0W40 have reported that they had little to no dipstick loss, and then suddenly experienced a quick loss of 1 quart or more. This seems to occur after 3K more more miles after then oil change, and might be related to the amount of fuel dilution, since average dilution goes up over mileage. I believe this to be a result of the fuel breaking down some of the highly volatile oil components.

Re: There are two issues I see...
A bit excessive for the oil to be doing all this in 2k miles after a thorough cleaning, don't you think?
What about driving habits, cold operation, high compression ratio, cooler combustion temps?...natural combustion byproduct?

Exactly what I said in another thread, the PCV...
Something is definitely going on for this excessive carbon buildup so quickly besides explaining it by telling people to use a better oil, LOL.
