Class: Today's lesson - The "Reverse 180" driving maneuver
Practiced this morning in an empty snow-covered parking lot:
1) Hold ESP button for 5 seconds
2) Get going FAST in a straight line in reverse
3) Tug the wheel (1/8 - 1/4 turn ) to get the front end rotating
4) Lay on the brakes while shifting into 2nd gear
5) When the car approaches 180 degrees (1/2 turn) of rotation floor it.
It's a thing of beauty and easier than it looks. I had it nailed by the third attempt - first time not enough speed, 2nd attempt, forgot to shift out of reverse. Hardly any speed is lost in the 1/2 spin. I know TPIWWP, I need to have somebody video tape it.
(Disclaimer: Not an original idea - saw a Factory Audi driver do it on pavement.)
Have fun and Cheers!

Surprisingly it actually works better without using the brakes...
You use the rear wheels as a pivot. If you dont use the brakes, the front will literally snap around on you in one quick motion and then you can shift into your forward gear. If memory serves, they also refer to this as a "J-Turn"
