I've just passed my 29K miles mark and the brake pad warning has come on. The local (Monterey, CA) dealer quoted me $1600 to replace the brakes b/c they will also be doing the rotors. Can I just buy the Centric Posi Quiet Semi-Metallic pads from the Stop-Tech site and bed-in my new pads and keep the rotors going strong? There is still a lot of meat on the rotors, but they do have a couple of the "screw marks." Any help is appreciated.

What are screw marks? Unless your rotors are severely grooved and/or very close to the minimum thickness, I'd leave them alone. My car has 23,xxx miles and the front pads are 60% worn. My rotors are 1.3 mm away from minimum thickness. I am only putting new pads on this time around.

The stock pads have metal rivets that will groove the disk if you try to get too many miles out of them.
