ECU flash to make RS4 less sensitive to misfire
So anyone got this flash from dealer? I am told that the engine purposely misfire to help heat up the Cats and this misfire is being blamed as carbon buildup in some cases. I asked if this makes the oil temp hotter, he said no.
My car starts up fine just as always been, cold idle no issue, pulls OK. Dyno'ed ~320whp back at 35K mi. I don't know if I should let them flash it, the caveat is the flash is only covered under warranty. So I have until May31st to decide, her 4th year Bday to do the flash.
Any feedback on the flash is much appreciated.

Had the flash for a few months...received it in early November (direct from Audi after conference with regional rep) due to frequent MIL triggered related to cold starts (which are frequent where I live in NH). Called dealer to confirm I had the update that was released in late December and I do. Have had one carbon cleaning as well. Main difference from flash I have noted is in the warm-up sequence. Holds higher revs for much longer on warm up sequence. Once warmed up, I notice no difference in driving. No more MIL since flash. Carbon clean up was done prior to reflash and made the car noticeably more responsive, particularly at higher RPM as others have noted.
Despite the issues with these cars (carbon buildup, DRC, etc), I cant help but love it.
