Exhaust haze under hard acceleration?

I've never seen any visible indication of soot.
I will say I have seen it at idle and low rpms on startup, however. And every one of us knows that the back end gets pretty yucky.

When we do dyno testing, we have to open the doors and clear out the room after 2 - 3 runs despite the huge exhaust fans.

if it's heavy loose black stuff, rather than just a discoloring over time, than that's soot vs. just exhaust staining. i think their description of soot is probably accurate.
