Default Factory Alarm Question

Does anyone know if the factory alarm "tilt sensor" is sensitive enough to pick up if someone was trying to use a small jack to jack up the car, and steal the wheels? In other words, we know the car has low profile tires, so is the distance that the car would lift up on a jack, high enough to actually be detected by the "tilt sensor"? If someone has already tried to do it themselves to test the alarm, I won't waste my time tying it myself. Thanks!!!

I don't know about jacking the car. I do know that if you go on a ferry you better disable the motion sensor with the button on the drivers door under the trunk release or the ferry people will be calling you back to your car when the alarm keeps going off.

not to threadjack, but...

on a similar note, does the RS4 have a way to disable the interior motion sensor?

on the B5 S4 there was a button you could press to disable the interior motion sensor and it seemed that you needed to do this if you wanted to leave the windows/sunroof open a crack and not have the alarm go off. don't seem to see a button like that on the RS4.

My Euro spec RS4 has two buttons on the door trim below the window switches - one to disable the tilt sensor, and the other to disable the interior motion sensor.

Is this not the same as the US spec car?

i've got 3 switches inside the door pocket area (along with the seat memory buttons). gas filler door open, trunk open and tilt sensor.

i'll need to hunt around some more to see if there are other switches hiding somewhere.

I know mine is not sensitive enough. I changed my wheels and a bunch of other stuff before with the car locked and never triggered the alarm.

On the other hand I was mounting tires on my parent's mini yesterday and the tilt alarm went off from the first pump of the jack!

The car comes with lock nuts as standard - is that not sufficient?

My car did not come with wheel locks. My tilt sensor will trip if I try jacking w/o disabling it. But OMG the "alarm" horn is just lame. When I first heard it, I seriously thought it was the remove key buzzer.
