Good internal air flow is going to be much more effective than cross drilling. It bugs the crap out of me that one of our rotors spins backwards. Although I haven't yet driven the car on track hard enough to make them fade, it's the principle!

They would rather save some money instead of making a proper brake system even if it means just getting the rotors right.
But don't feel bad about it because as I have found out the cheap bastage at Audi did the same thing to their top sports car (front and rear)...
Yes the R8 as the same rotors that have vanes turning one way on the right side and the other way on the left!
