AWD vs RWD at high speeds, the awd will get owned all the time
The fact is an e60 m5 is faster from a roll than a gallardo 520 hp v-10. Anyways, the point is Audi seems to lose ground above 200km/h unlike BMW and mercedes where they are strong in every gear at any speeds.

I would put my money on the RS4 in the twisties....which there are many at the Ring....
having said that, the M5 would walk it on the long straits.

Of course it comes down to driver.. I can tell you I couldn't pull those times.
But those are the top times posted by various cars.. So the assumption is that if there was a better driver, he would have pulled a better time, and updated the board.
I think the time difference was big enough to be considered significant, plus we aren't talking about the current M5, we are talking about the E39.

Really. Please show me a video of an UNMODIFIED E39 pulling on an RS4.
Not that I think it can't happen, but all I've seen is the modified E39 M5 (M5board.com's Gustav) racing an stock RS4 on an abandoned airfield.
