with reports from testing magazines of issues ranging from failures to funky sounds. The dealer told me that the tranny would only last a few times if you used launch control (he said there was some secret way to turn it on, which had been discovered). I don't know if the dealer really knows didly, but in the case of the GTR, you have a transmission that Audi has been working towards for some time, now running much more torque than anything else through a box with hollow shafts.
It just would not take much to be able to say the box was not covered. That would make me baby the car, and then what's the point?
At least when Ferrari brings a dual clutch out on the California, you can be sure the three year unlimited mileage warranty won't be questioned, even if you are pounding it on the track. Of course, for 200+k, you get something!

and they routinely deny warranty claims. 'so you've never over-revved the engine? the box says you did on March 3rd at 3:25pm, then again on April 25th at 6:30pm, etc...' (friend of mine is a Ferrari tech...he says owners are often surprised by this).

I have a 355, and there is no such data logger anywhere. And Ferrari are excellent at replacing broken things under warranty. They encourage you to track the crap out of the cars. The problem is that most people don't even drive the cars enough to get into issues on the road, much less the track. And up until recently, the warranty was only 2 years.

and obviously it's not something that Ferrari necessarily wants its customers to know. I don't know what model year this was implemented, by my tech friend has mentioned the 355 specifically.
