Default I am 99% sure stasis will build you a set with no drop.

I have no clue if you need it. But as far as I remember the setup on these cars, all they need to do is provide you with a longer spring. I am guessing 9" instead of 8". This is SUPER easy. These springs are OTS components, nothign to it.

Default Hmm, you are genrally correct.

But you can build a suspension that is lower and uses softer springs... you are right that very quickly you run of travel.

But, there is someting else you can do. You can use the same rate springs or slightly stiffer springs and "softer" shcoks. That will actually give you a more comfortable ride and lower height and no bottoming out. You will loose some "crispness" though. Even easier - lower springs, bigger tires (as in 18" wheels) and you get lower and get comfy ride.

You can do many things if you go custom.

Default Re: Hmm, you are genrally correct.

softer shock on stiffer springs means the springs will be doing most of the work, and that wouldn't be good.

going to a bigger tire with less sidewall you will also take a hit on comfort, shocks and springs aside.

there's always a trade-off. depends on what you want, super handling, but unforgiving. or okay handling, but comfortable ride.

Default i'm no longer a gear-head,

actually i never really was. but i had friends...friends who went the whole 9 yards with their various cars, and i was usually helping them do it. engine, tranny, suspensions, lowering kits. euro and japanese stuff. as was most often the case, i was just glad it wasn't my car.

Default I was a big time gear-head, but......

I'm now at the point in life where I can finally afford cars that don't really need modding to be killer performers. I'm still interested, I'll probably still mod to some degree, but my days of dumping $30-40k into a car is over. I would still do it if you recovered the money on the sale of the car, but you don't and I don't feel like dumping all that cash. Still 20 years of modding has given me a tremendous amount of knowledge about all aspects of the automobile.

Default yeh, that's part of it...

you lose the enthusiasm and tolerance for the hassles over time. i always had nicer cars than most of my friends when young, so i didn't get heavily into mods on any of my cars. i didn't need to. but, as i said, bigtime on theirs. it's just who i was hanging out with at the time. these were sometimes daily drivers and other times project cars. and of course, you never get the money back out of it.

funny, some of these slammed RS4's and S4's...well, don't ever take it to the snow. gonna be like a hockey puck on hard packed snow and ice, not to mention snow and ice jamming in wheels wells and causing problems.

Default Re: After owning 5 cars with 7 high quality aftermarket suspensions, I can tell you.....

But that is the beauty of an adjustable suspension. Just soften it up for the street and adjust it stiffer for the track. Win/Win in my book.

Default One of the biggest misconceptions out there.

For track you actually most of the time want LESS rebound than on the street. That is why suspensions such as PSS9s that adjust compression and rebound atthe same time are to be avoided. You want compression and rebound to be independently adjustable.

Again, hitting teh track, crank up compression, crank down rebound.
