Default Isn't the RS4 chain driven?

I till don't see how you get all the oil out of this engine. Having had a B6 S4 engine a part multiple times it suprises me that you can get 8.5 quarts out and that is all thats in there. Just really suprises me knowing that almost a quart sits around the chains and doesn't some out of the engine unless you remove the chain gaurds. I dunno call me crazy but I think this engine holds the same ammount of oil total as the B6 S4 its just they said 8.5 so people changing the oil wouldn't be scared that they only got out 8.5 of the total oil the engine holds.

Default I changed mine last week with MB1 0w-40. Took 10 quarts. I also changed the oil filter

You have to take the 10mm bolts off of the bracket that holds the engine cover and then the oil filter is pretty easy to get to. The biggest problem is getting the damn splash panel back on and lining the brake ducts up correctly. Took about twice as much time to do as the M3 or my S4 did when I had it.
Anyway, I did check the dip stick and at 8 quarts it was barely even reading. At 9 quarts it was right below the min. And at 10 quarts it is a little above the middle hash. My tech told me that it would take 10, but I didn't belive him until I did it myself.

Default hmmm Bob what do you have to say to this?

I told you the car takes more then 8.5 quarts its the same thing as the B6 and B7 S4's. Not to mention that with 10 quarts there is still oil in that engine, not all of it comes out.

Default I dunno, but check this out...

...from audiusa.com:

Engine oil capacities:

RS4: 8.5 qts
S4: 11.3 qts
Q7: 9.7 qts
A8 (4.2): 8.0 qts
A6 (4.2): 9.3 qts

Uhh....OK.

No joke.

Default 4.2L FSI is a totally different block than the old 4.2 engine

Ground clearance differences between Q7 and RS4 account for the other capacity differences.

Default

that doesn't explain the difference between the A6 and A8, though.

Default Just shy of 10 quarts/new filter and 5W40 at 2600 miles.

Oil at full temp before drain, car was level and left to drain overnight.

In 2600 miles it used 3/4 quart.

At delivery, the car was 1 quart low. Had them add another before I left the lot. Car had 8 miles on the odometer at delivery. They gave me an extra quart of oil. Dealer is using Castrol TXT 505 01 5W40.
